Bird Watching

Everyone becomes an amateur Bird Watcher as soon as they land in Costa Rica. Although Costa Rica is a small country, 893 bird species have been recorded here, more than in all of the United States and Canada combined. Over an area of 51,100 km2, an area smaller than West Virginia, this is the greatest density of bird species of any continental American country. Visitors can’t help but notice the remarkable colors, calls and plumage, and there will be plenty of serious bird watchers and qualified guides to describe the habits and natural history of the species you see!
